Hello everyone.
In this blog post, I want to share some heartwarming thoughts about how wonderful Jesus is. He is a strong and tender Savior.❤️
————————————————————————————————-
As I have read Isaiah 42 and Isaiah 11, I have seen a beautiful picture of Jesus in the Messianic prophecies in these chapters.
I have seen a picture of Someone who is strong and tender. Someone who is both decisive and gentle. I need Someone like this in my life.
In Isaian 11:2-3*, we read “…the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears…”
In Isaiah 42: 2-3*, we read; “He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.”
In these verses of these beautiful Messianic prophecies, I see that Jesus was prophesied to have heavenly wisdom which would lead Him to perceive matters as they really were-fairly and with unbiased judgement. I also see that He was prophesied to be One who had self control and sensitivity to the weak and broken. What a beautiful character!
In Isaiah 11:4*, we read “…With righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.”
In Isaiah 42:4*, we read, “He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.”
In these verses of these beautiful Messianic prophecies, I see that Jesus was prophesied to judge the poor righteously, and to defend the vulnerable. I see that He was prophesied to have a tenacity and a fervor that would not be overcome as he “set judgement in the earth..” (verse 4).
In Isaiah 11:5 * we read: “…righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.”
In Isaiah 42:6*, we read: “I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles…”
In these verses of these beautiful Messianic prophecies, I see that Jesus was prophesied to be a righteous and faithful Savior. The mission that He would come to earth to do is one that He would perform.
And Jesus did come to earth and do what He was prophesied to do. We can read through the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) and see that He did.
I think that in Christianity today, we witness a broken, fragmented picture of Jesus. With some, He specializes in might, and not a biblical kind of might either. He is made out to be One who specializes in a forceful might that demands blind acceptance and forced worship. This twisted picture of Jesus has an opposite counterfeit which is a Jesus who specializes in love…but it’s an insecure kind of love if you really stop to ponder it. It’s a love that accepts people as they are and shows great tenderness and compassion, but it doesn’t fully transform people’s lives. It’s a love that accommodates a never-ending cycle of sin and forgiveness, with some victories over some sins, but which doesn’t acknowledge the reality that, as we really see our sinful states, we realize that sin hurts us and others and we want to live in an ongoing walk of ongoing deliverance over all of the sins that God reveals to us: not just forgiveness.
We see a fragmented picture of Jesus which makes Him either tyrannical, or not the Savior that He is.
But I’ve read beautiful verses in Isaiah 11 and Isaiah 42, and I’ve seen Jesus for who He is in these chapters. I’ve also seen that the Jesus of the Gospels is also the Jesus of the book of Revelation.
I know Jesus to be a God who loves sinners with a tenderness, tact, tenacity and compassion that you won’t find anywhere else. I know Jesus to be a God who hates sin, the disease that makes us hurt ourselves and those around us. Since He is our Creator (John 1:1) and since He is our Savior (Matthew 1:20-21), I have full confidence that He knows how we all may optimally function, and that He specializes in saving sinners who are so familiar with dysfunction.
I know how He treated the woman who had fallen into adultery.
“When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.” John 8:10-11*
I want to encourage you all to do something that will take courage for many; I want to encourage you to give Jesus a chance to reveal Himself to you. I want you to know that Jesus is not your pastor. He is not your parent. He is not your grandparent. He is not your teacher. He is Jesus. Your pastor, your parents, your grandparents and your teachers may have represented Jesus to you in a beautiful way….or they may not have.
Jesus is Jesus. So, please, just give Him a chance to show you who He is. Surrender all of your fears and your presuppositions about Him. Give Him a chance to show you that He has nothing to do with haughty, cold, judgmental and unkind misrepresentations of Himself. Give Him a chance to show you that He is intensely interested in saving you from, and extremely able to save you from, sin.
Sit with Him, tell Him how afraid you are of Him, how angry you have felt towards Him, tell Him how disappointed you have been in Him, and let Him show you who He is. He has clear discernment. He understands hurting hearts. His skin isn’t thin, and His heart is vastly tender. So, please give Him a chance. It will make His day.
Blessings and courage to all.
