The forgiveness of God is an incredible, miraculous, beautiful thing. God loves us. God the Father allowed His only Son, Jesus, to die for us. Our sins are the reason why Jesus died…and yet, God the Father, and Jesus who is now resurrected and interceding for us in heaven LOVE us. They do not hate ANY of us.
How can we turn away from such beautiful love? But He doesn’t want me! some broken, despairing hearts may cry. Oh, but He does!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 (KJV)
“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?…It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” Romans 8:32;34 (KJV)
I discovered this video today, and what an example of the love of God can be seen in this story! A father who actually loved the man who murdered his son, and wanted to adopt this man as his own son. What a picture of the attitude of God the Father towards all of us, no matter what any of us have done! I like to think that if the deceased son of this gentleman had survived the attack, he would have also been supernaturally enabled by God to demonstrate the love that Jesus, God the Son, has for those who killed him.
Just as the man who is a convicted murderer in this true story, a man who is very justly spending the rest of his life behind bars, has been touched by the love of God through the love, forgiveness, acceptance, and embracing shown him by an earthly father whom he so cruelly robbed, our Heavenly Father is right now holding out His love, forgiveness, acceptance and embracing. Just as the father in this true story actually wanted this man who had performed the utmost cruelty on his son to accept the offer of becoming his son, our Heavenly Father actually wants us, whose sins have cost the life of His Son Jesus, to accept the offer of becoming His sons and daughters.
Please! Let’s not respond to our Heavenly Father with the rejecting responses that the father in this story was afraid he might receive from the man whom he had forgiven and whom he loved. Let’s make our Heavenly Father happy. Let’s accept His forgiveness and allow us to adopt Him as His children.
“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…” 1 John 3:1 (KJV)
God is good. ❤
