Hello everyone,
Today, I am starting a new series on my blog entitled, “The Sacred and the Sweet”. In this series, I will be re-counting memories of sweet and sacred experiences I have had in my relationship with God. I may also share experiences of others who give me permission to share accounts of their sweet and sacred experiences with God.
I hope that these accounts will touch and warm many hearts. The love of Jesus is a very beautiful thing.
Today’s story is a simple one, and it is a story of a very good memory of mine.
I was about to take a plane trip to another state-in faith. I wasn’t physically feeling the best, and if I didn’t believe in God, I would have doubted that I could make it. But, I knew that I was going somewhere that I knew God wanted me to go, and so I believed that He would be with me and help me.
As I waited at the gate to board my first flight (I had two flights to take), I decided to ask Jesus to board the plane with me. I had flown many times before this, but I cannot recall ever having a thought to so distinctly and purposefully ask Jesus to board a plane with me. This time, Jesus gave me this thought and I prayed to Him and asked Him to join me on the plane.
When I boarded the plane and got to my seat, my prayer was answered. As I watched the airport crew prepare to get the plane off of the ground and into the air, I began to think about how beautiful it is when people work together. Getting a plane into the air is no small feat; it requires a lot of willing and prompt cooperation between a lot of people.
As I watched the crew work, my heart was touched. I thought to myself, Wouldn’t it be beautiful if we all worked together like this? When we live to please ourselves and when we are stubborn and uncooperative, the world really does become a harder place to live. But when we are unselfish and when we seek to benefit those around us, we make the world an easier place to live.
This particular experience that I just mentioned is so simple, but it touched my heart so much. At this time in my life, I was experiencing a physical issue which made it difficult for me to sit for any length of time. I invited Jesus to fly with me because I knew that I could not do so without Him.
He gave me the sweet experience that I just mentioned, and He also made it possible for me to make it through my flights (which probably totaled about three hours) as well as an hour long car ride after the fact. I know without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus was with me during my two flights and my hour long car ride.
Jesus is a very, very tender God. I know that He is-from His word and from many personal experiences. When we are at our weakest, He approaches us so gently, with so much kindness and consideration… with so much reassurance. He is also a very strong God. He is able to help us to get through difficult experiences, and when He does so, our faith in Him is strengthened.
Dear Jesus,
Thank you so much for Your faithfulness, Your tenderness, Your loyalty and Your care. Please help us to remember to call out to You throughout the day and to ask You to be with us. Thank You so much that You want to be with us.
Thank You so very much.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
