The Sacred and the Sweet: The Sweetness of God’s Word and of Godly Music

Hello everyone. 🙂

Today, I’ll be sharing how much God’s Word means to me, as well as how much Christian music means to me. I hope that what I share will be inspiring and comforting to many others.

As I mentioned in my blog-post last week, it is the word of God which changes us. (1 Peter 1:23) Additionally, when Jesus met Satan in the wilderness, He answered Satan’s questions with the word of God. You can read about this account in the “2. His three and a half years of public ministry” section of this blog post. The blue, hyperlinked words will take you to Bible verses. All of this shows us that the word of God is powerful!

In my personal life, I have seen how powerful God’s word is. Many times when I am under great temptation, or when I am very overwhelmed, sad or discouraged, God brings Bible verses to my mind and they encourage and strengthen me SO much. I also bask in God’s love, and praise Him for His goodness through Bible verses. The Bible contains beautiful accounts of encouragement, hope and rejoicing. The word of God is powerful! It has calmed, soothed, strengthened, invigorated, cheered and inspired my soul in so many ways, and at so many times. Here are some of my favorite scripture passages and/or verses: Exodus 33 and Exodus 34:1-8; Psalm 103-1-6; Isaiah 53, Isaiah 54, Isaiah 58, Isaiah 59, Isaiah 61; Ezekiel 36 and Ezekiel 37, and Micah 7.

Additionally, I have found that God uses Christian music to strengthen and encourage us. So many beautiful songs written by Christian songwriters have touched my heart deeply. Through the years -and even now, God has been putting beautiful themes and beautiful melodies in the hearts of many of His children. Additionally, scripture songs have been a great blessing to me and many others. Scripture songs are Bible verses put to music. Here is a YouTube channel full of scripture songs. These songs have been, and continue to be, a great blessing to me.

Music reaches our innermost emotions, and it also gets locked into many of our memories. Listening to Godly music touches our hearts, and puts good thoughts into our minds. God brings these good thoughts back to our minds at times when we need them most.

Here is a list of just some of the Christian songs which have deep meaning for me personally:

  1. “Miracle of Mercy”

2. “The Refiner’s Fire”

3. “In Your Mercy”

4. “You Thought of Us”

5. “Find Us Faithful”

6. “Thou the Promise” (I know that this is technically a Christmas song, but I feel that it is a fitting song for anytime of year!)

7. “He’s Been Faithful”

I am so grateful for all of the ways in which God speaks to and strengthens us. What a good God He is. 🙂

I’m just a young lady who is journeying through life with Jesus. I have much to learn and unlearn and I’m so grateful to be able to be guided by God in my growing process. I desire to learn and grow forever. May I never find a complacent, stopping point! As long as I continue to humbly walk with God, I will forever be His work in progress (adapted from the "About" page on my blog learnandgrow4ever.com).
