A New Way of Thinking About Halloween

I chose the picture above because the flower makes me think of love, and the rope makes me think of strength. God is both loving and strong. What a blessing to know this! We are coming close to a day when we need to press very close to God as satanic influences and activities become more active and visible.

We are now approaching Halloween. I know with certainty that Satan delights in this holiday that glorifies both death and spiritualism-two things that Satan is highly into. Be aware: Satan and his evil angels are always active, and during this season when the things that more closely reveal what Satan is about when he is undisguised certainly don’t cause him and his evil angels to be more inactive.

There is a Great Controversy going on: a warfare between God and Satan that has long been raging. This warfare goes on over everyone of us. On a day when I felt my need to be on guard against the satanic influences of Halloween, I visited a website where the Bible can be read for free, and this was the verse of the day that showed on my screen:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

I knew that this was God speaking to me.

I want to encourage my readers to take a stand against both the spiritualistic and the death-glorifying practices which are celebrated on Halloween. None of us have any need for giving any reasons for the devil to be welcomed into our homes. He is constantly looking for an entrance into our hearts and lives, and how dangerous it is to bring costumes, pictures, and decorations of ghosts, witches, fake body parts, and other kinds of creepy Halloween paraphernalia into our homes!

Many people think that this is all fun and games. Many, and I would say most, people are not trying to invite the devil into their homes. People are just trying to have good fun. That I understand. I’m not here to judge anyone’s motives for celebrating Halloween, but please know that the devil loves spiritualism (ghosts and witches), and death and destruction (fake body parts and other creepy Halloween paraphernalia). These things are invitations to him.

Furthermore, trick-or-treating has some possible and likely origins that should concern everyone. I believe that Satan is very active when tricker-treating is going on. I want to encourage you all: when innocent children come to your door trick-or-treating, pray for God’s protection from satanic influences for yourselves and for these precious, innocent children, and then give them things that you think will be of benefit to them.

We need every bit of God’s love, strength, and power. If we flee to God, He will push back the evil forces of Satan and give us freedom in Him.

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 (KJV)

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

“To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 5:8-11 (KJV)

“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” Hebrews 2:9 (KJV)

Jesus died on the cross and tasted death for all of us, and whoever accepts His blood-bought offer of salvation has the promise of eternal life in heaven and in the New Earth! (John 3:16; Romans 6:22)

He died for us, giving us the opportunity to have a future without death. How sad it must make Him to see so many celebrate a day that glorifies death!

My appeal is this: instead of celebrating spiritualism and death, let’s celebrate the freedom that can be found in Jesus, and the eternal life that He promises to those who accept His blood-bought offer of salvation, and who surrender to and cooperate with Him in His efforts to save us.

In closing, I would encourage you all to check out the following resources. The first two talk about the origins and history of Halloween, the third one is a website that teaches the truth about ghosts, and the fourth one is a website that teaches the truth about death.

I invite those who are willing to, and convicted to, to pray along with me for an increased presence of God’s heavenly angels on Halloween to combat Satan and all of the deception, false happiness, sadness, destruction, and discouragement that he tries to spread throughout the world.

Blessings and courage to all.

I’m just a young lady who is journeying through life with Jesus. I have much to learn and unlearn and I’m so grateful to be able to be guided by God in my growing process. I desire to learn and grow forever. May I never find a complacent, stopping point! As long as I continue to humbly walk with God, I will forever be His work in progress (adapted from the "About" page on my blog learnandgrow4ever.com).
