I chose this picture because I find it to be a good illustration of the rest that we can find in God, our Heavenly Father.
Hello everyone.
In this blog post, I would like to testify about the amazing grace of God and about the rest that I have been finding in Him. I both have found and am finding that God is very real.
To illustrate what I mean, I am going to share a personal testimony:
Last Sabbath, while I was in church, the Lord spoke to me through what an elder said during Sabbath School. The Lord convicted me that I needed to spend more quality time with Him. Since this time, I have been making sure that my devotional time in the morning is quality time. Twice now, when I have felt tired and I have wanted to simply recite scripture in my mind while staying in bed, I have chosen to get up and sit in an armchair where I have spent time in prayer and then listening (audiobook) to God’s word. The result? My focus and confidence at the workplace have improved, and even though I have not gotten enough sleep over these same days, I experienced no tiredness all day long on either day! I never fought the urge to sleep! This experience reminds me of a similar one that I had some time ago.
I do still intend, with God’s help, to follow an earlier bedtime schedule, and I don’t believe that this supernatural rejuvenation was given to me by God in order to make me believe that getting enough sleep isn’t important. All of this being said, I can see that God honors those who honor Him, and that time with Him is more important than time in bed.
As a result of more than one experience that I have had, I have found that I cannot thrive without God, but when I put Him first in my life, He takes over and does things in and through me that I cannot do by myself.
“…let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.” Isaiah 27:5 (KJV)
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us…” Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)
““For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength…” Isaiah 30:15 (KJV)
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
Praise God. ❤
