Hello everyone.
Today’s blog post is about an unusual experience that my uncle and I had last weekend.
We were on our way to church. He was driving and I was in the passenger seat. It was a rainy day, and we drove along with the windshield wipers going. All was normal as we meandered down the road until…a turkey at the side of the road jumped in the air and began to fly across our path.
BAM!!! The turkey smashed into the passenger side of the windshield. The windshield bent inward: cracking in one place. Small pieces of glass covered the thick coat that was resting on my lap. Small pieces of glass covered the space between the driver’s and passenger’s seats. Small pieces of glass landed on my uncle’s clothing.
The rearview mirror fell down from the ceiling and hung from a cord. I laughed: both amused and nervous. “Should I call 911?” I asked my uncle. He slowly turned the car around, and we began our journey home. The driver’s side of the windshield was less cracked, so my uncle could see through it.
When my uncle was able to get a better look at the car, he discovered that turkey had made a dent in the front of the vehicle.
Both my uncle and I were unscathed. After clearing our persons of the glass shreds and transferring ourselves from his car to my car, we were back on our way to church, and we made it safely there. God’s protecting hands were around us. We could have been in an accident that was far worse than the one that we experienced.
As I reflect on this experience I count it as another new lease on life. I see how God has shielded me from great harm, and I know that He did this because there is more work for me to do for Him.
All of us may find our highest sense of meaning and purpose in life while we receive God’s love into our hearts and seek to exemplify it in our daily lives. This is a daily journey.
I know that in my life I am finding that, without God’s intervention, I am a broken person.
But…Jesus offers hope and healing:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:3-7 (KJV)
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” Ezekiel 36:26-27 (KJV)
Thank you, Jesus, for this new lease on life. May I, and may everyone reading this whose heart shares the same sentiment, be drawn closer and closer to You. Please heal the brokenness in our hearts and lives. Please give us victory over the sins that we so easily fall into. Please help us find rest, healing, and growth as we bask in Your love and seek to share this love with those around us.
Thank you.
In Jesus’ Name Amen.
I hope that this blog post has been a blessing. I also hope that you’ll stay tuned for next week’s blog post, which will again be on Bible prophecy.
Blessings and courage. ❤
