The Sacred and the Sweet: When God Spoke to a Puppy

Hello everyone. 🙂

Today’s post was copied, pasted and slightly adapted from a Facebook post I made last October. I pray that this simple account will be encouraging to many people. 🙂

“I am so delighted and am rejoicing in the Lord! God has been really showing His love and His sustaining power today in amazing ways. I have dealt with chronic pain for years, and once again, today God temporarily took away my pain so that I could do something that I don’t typically need to do, but which I needed to do today. It was AMAZING! (Throughout the years of my health struggles, God has at times either reduced or removed my pain so that I could do certain things that I often couldn’t do, but which He wanted me to do.)

Seeing what He did for me earlier today gave me greater faith to do something that may sound kind of funny to many of you: pray for my younger sister’s puppy. You see, this puppy does not like going out to relieve herself at night. I often carry her down the stairs and onto the grass.

Tonight, she was displaying her typical evening hesitancy again. I stopped on one of the top steps and prayed something like; “God, You have been so good to me today. You have been showing me so much about Your love and power, and now I’m asking You: would You please make Chloee (the puppy) come down the stairs?” Shortly thereafter, Chloee came down the stairs! Then, as she typically does, she stopped again and would not step off the sidewalk and onto the grass.

So, I stopped and prayed again, something like: “God. You are so good. I’ve been seeing Your power today and I just want to boldly ask You for more. Would You please make Chloee come down onto the grass?” Shortly thereafter….Chloee stepped onto the grass!I have actually prayed at least once before for Chloee, when we had just gotten her and she was weeks younger.

She would not walk out the back door, so I sent up a prayer for her, and shortly thereafter, out she went! I am so blown away by God. He has shown so much tender love and care for me today, and He even affirmed to me that He can control my younger sister’s puppy. Now, I’m going to start praying about the puppy’s biting obsession! God cares about everything! I hope that this simple testimony puts smiles on faces and encouragement in hearts. 🙂

I’m just a young lady who is journeying through life with Jesus. I have much to learn and unlearn and I’m so grateful to be able to be guided by God in my growing process. I desire to learn and grow forever. May I never find a complacent, stopping point! As long as I continue to humbly walk with God, I will forever be His work in progress (adapted from the "About" page on my blog learnandgrow4ever.com).
