Hello everyone.
Note: I just want to say upfront: This blog-post contains a heartbreaking story with a beautiful ending. This blog-post shares a video of an incredible story of forgiveness. I apologize that the title of this series and the theme picture for the series don’t match the gravity of the story I am sharing today. I in no way mean to be insensitive, and am only using the same title and picture for consistency’s sake (In other words, I’m using the same title and picture for each post in the current series I am doing).
Forgiveness is something that means so much to me. When I think of how I have wronged God and how He has forgiven me, and also of the experiences I have had when I have been forgiven by people whom I have wronged, I am so touched. It is my sincere prayer that God will continue to grow my desire and capacity to love others as He would have me to, and also that He will give me a heart of forgiveness: a heart that surrenders all bitterness and resentment towards those who hurt me the least, as well as those who hurt me the most.
I believe that the thoughts and desires that I have expressed above are shared by many others. For those of you who desire God’s love and forgiveness in your hearts, I invite you to join me in the prayer below:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank you for the forgiveness that You have extended to us! Oh! How undeserving we are of it! We have done nothing to earn it and so much to deserve the opposite of it, and yet Your heart is so big that You delight in mercy! Micah 7:18 . Oh Lord! We are blown away by Your grace and Your mercy! You are so full of a love that is foreign to the kind of love that we naturally have!
Oh Lord, sometimes it is difficult to forgive those who have hurt us. The sting and the hurt can be so great, but when we look back at Your cross, and see how You died for our sins, sins which You never committed, and how You prayed the prayer “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” Luke 23:34 (KJV) for cruel people who were hurting You, our hearts can see that we can be like You by choosing to forgive those who have hurt us too. We need Your strength to do it, and we need Your wisdom on how to do it too. And so we claim the promise that if we ask anything that is according to Your will, You will hear us 1 John 5:14. We are asking for the strength to- and wisdom on how to, forgive others, as well for the strength to forgive ourselves where necessary.
We also ask that You will fill our hearts with the kind of love that You have in Your heart for people and we are so grateful that You hear this prayer and will answer it, since it is according to Your will.
We are so grateful that You are making us into loving, caring, wise and forgiving people. We love you, dear God.
In Jesus’ Name Amen
I will now share the video that touched my heart today. I hope that it will touch and inspire you all as it did me.
Note: I don’t want this disclaimer to detract from or undermine the amazing story that this video shares, but just wanted to clarify that I don’t believe that people go strait to heaven or hell when they die. I believe that the dead sleep in their graves and that they will later be resurrected. If you want to learn more about my beliefs when it comes to death and the future life, feel free to reach out to me through the Contact page of this blog.)
I hope that this post touched and inspired many people.
Blessings. 🙂
