Hello everyone. 🙂 Today is a special day…it’s Father’s Day!
I have been truly blessed as I have a loving father, and two loving grandfathers. They have all sought to make my life happy and I respect, admire, love and appreciate them all. I am forever grateful for these wonderful men and I love them dearly. My prayer is that God would continue to make me more like Him so that I can be a better daughter to my father and a better granddaughter to my grandfathers.
Before I go on with this Father’s Day post, I do want to compassionately acknowledge that there are many people for whom Father’s Day may be a difficult day. For those who may be grieving today, here are some gentle words of sympathy and encouragement:
“To those who may have lost their fathers at a young age or at an older age, to those who may have practically lost their fathers due to their fathers’ drug addictions, mental illness, abandonment etc., my heart goes out to you. I truly believe that God is available, 24/7 to fill the roles of the individuals who have either been unable to, or who have chosen not to, fulfill their relational obligations to us. Here are some good examples of this:
‘When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.’ Psalm 27:10 (KJV)’.
‘And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.’ 2 Corinthians 6:18 (KJV)
‘Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.’ Psalm 103:13 (KJV)”
(the comments within quotation marks were copied, pasted and adapted from this blog-post and this blog-post)
Having expressed this sensitivity and encouragement, I would now like to share a beautiful Father’s Day video that I came across. I hope that this video will touch your hearts as it has mine and that it will impress all of us to, as far as possible, do something special for our fathers (and grandfathers too) today.
For those who have fathers and/or grandfathers who are unsafe to be around, I want to encourage you all to pray for them today. God wants their lives to be better and what an honor it is for children to ask God to help their struggling fathers. For those who may have fathers and/or grandfathers who are cold and uninterested in your lives, I want to encourage you all to send them nice notes anyways today if possible. Who can tell which cold-hearted father and/or grandfather might actually be touched by the undeserved love that he receives?
To all of the fathers, grandfathers, and other men who fill the role of father, who may be reading this blog-post today; Happy Father’s Day!
Blessings. 🙂
